No one plans to struggle with chemical dependency, alcohol abuse or drug abuse, and it can happen to anyone. Counseling can be a first step toward sobriety and a life that feels like yours again. I have worked with people in recovery and their families for more than 35 years.
Adults and teens ages 13 and older who are struggling with alcohol, drugs or another addiction, and family members who are affected by someone else’s use.
You do not have to be sure you are ready to stop. Many people begin by talking about what is happening and what they want to change.
We begin with a conversation about what brought you in, what your use has cost you and what you hope your life looks like in recovery. From there, sessions focus on understanding what drives the pattern and building the habits and support that help you stay on track.
I do not judge. My role is to help you understand yourself and make the changes you choose. Family members are welcome to meet with me too, together or on their own.
Life events can lead us down a destructive path, and recovery starts with taking the first step. I offer chemical dependency counseling for the person struggling and for the family around them, including alcohol abuse counseling, drug abuse counseling and counseling for other addictions.
Counseling is not medical care. If you need medical help to stop using, a physician can help with that, and I am glad to work alongside your care. Addiction often goes hand in hand with anxiety, depression or grief, which we can work on in individual counseling, and family counseling can help repair what addiction has strained.
If you are in crisis, call or text 988 or dial 911. The SAMHSA National Helpline is free, confidential and open all day, every day, at 1-800-662-4357.
I am based in Fort Worth, and online sessions are also available, so you can meet from home anywhere in Texas. Sessions are 60 minutes. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), licensed since 1990.
