What it is

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) teaches you to stop fighting painful thoughts and feelings and to act on your values instead. The goal is a full life, not the absence of discomfort.

What a session looks like

We clarify what matters most to you, practice noticing thoughts without being run by them, and choose small actions that fit your values, even when anxiety or sadness shows up.

Who it can help

Anxiety, worry, chronic stress, chronic illness and anyone who feels stuck trying to get rid of difficult feelings.

About my training

In my work I draw on ideas from Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, along with other methods suited to each person.

Counseling that uses this approach

When life feels heavy, or you are not sure what to do next, individual counseling gives you room to say what you are feeling and make sense of it. I have worked with individuals for more than 35 years.

No one plans to struggle with chemical dependency, alcohol abuse or drug abuse, and it can happen to anyone. Counseling can be a first step toward sobriety and a life that feels like yours again. I have worked with people in recovery and their families for more than 35 years.
