Behavioral Issues Counseling in Fort Worth, TX

When behavior is the symptom, let's find what is underneath

When a teen or family member’s behavior is causing trouble at home or at school, counseling helps everyone understand what is behind it and what will help.

Signs you might notice

A teen is angry, defiant or withdrawing
Arguments at home keep escalating
Rules and consequences are not working
School, friends or substance use have become a concern
The whole family feels stuck in the same pattern

How I can help

Behavior is usually a signal. We look at what is going on for your teen and for the family, including stress, changes, communication and expectations.

I meet with teens (13 and up) and with parents, together or separately depending on what helps. We work on clearer communication, consistent expectations and ways of repairing after conflict.

When to reach out

Early is better, but it is rarely too late. If you are worried about a pattern at home, reach out. If you are ever in immediate danger, call 911, and if you are in crisis, call or text 988.

Counseling that can help

When conflict, stress or a big change leaves your family feeling pulled apart, counseling gives everyone a calmer place to talk and listen. I have worked with families for more than 35 years.

Approaches I draw on

Seeing each person in the context of the family, and helping the whole family change together.

Practical tools for changing thoughts and habits that keep you stuck.

Focusing on the choices you can make now to meet your needs.

Strengthening the structure and boundaries that hold a family together.
