Trouble falling or staying asleep wears you down. Counseling can address the worry, stress and habits that keep you awake.
Sleep problems often have emotional roots, such as anxiety, depression, grief or unresolved stress. We look at what is happening in your life and what your mind and body are doing at night.
I help you build calmer evening routines, shift anxious thinking and practice relaxation skills. Because sleep can also have medical causes, I encourage you to talk with your doctor if the problem continues.
If poor sleep has gone on for a few weeks, or is affecting your days, it is a good time to talk with someone.
When life feels heavy, or you are not sure what to do next, individual counseling gives you room to say what you are feeling and make sense of it. I have worked with individuals for more than 35 years.
Practical tools for changing thoughts and habits that keep you stuck.
Making room for hard feelings while moving toward what matters to you.
Paying attention to the present moment to reduce worry and low mood.
Some common signs include: you lie awake with your mind racing; you wake in the night or too early and cannot get back to sleep; you dread bedtime because you expect a bad night; daytime fatigue is affecting your mood and work; stress, grief or worry seems to be driving the sleeplessness.
If any of this sounds familiar, you do not have to wait until things get worse to ask for support.
Sessions are 60 minutes, and the fee is $200 per session.
