Grief has no schedule. Whether the loss was recent or years ago, counseling gives you room to mourn, remember and slowly find your footing.
There is no right way to grieve, and I will not hurry you. Counseling offers a place to talk about the person or the life you lost, to say the things that are hard to say elsewhere, and to make sense of the feelings that come.
We look at how grief is showing up for you, in your body, your relationships and your faith if that matters to you, and at what helps you carry it. Over time, many people find they can hold both the loss and the memories with more peace.
Grief can be part of couples and family life too, and I am glad to work with a spouse or family together when that is what is needed.
You can come at any point, whether the loss is days or years old. Many people reach out when the support of friends and family has faded but the pain has not. If you are ever in immediate danger, call 911, and if you are in crisis, call or text 988.
When the same argument keeps coming back, or the two of you have started to feel like roommates, counseling gives you a calmer place to talk and new ways to reconnect. I have helped couples do that for more than 35 years.
When life feels heavy, or you are not sure what to do next, individual counseling gives you room to say what you are feeling and make sense of it. I have worked with individuals for more than 35 years.
When conflict, stress or a big change leaves your family feeling pulled apart, counseling gives everyone a calmer place to talk and listen. I have worked with families for more than 35 years.
If your faith is part of who you are, it can be part of your counseling too. I bring the same professional care to every client and welcome faith into the conversation when you want it there.
Some common signs include: you miss someone so much that daily life feels hard to face; you feel numb, angry, guilty or find yourself replaying what happened; grief comes in waves and catches you off guard; you are grieving a loss that others do not seem to understand, such as a divorce, a move or a lost dream; you feel stuck, and the pain is not easing with time.
If any of this sounds familiar, you do not have to wait until things get worse to ask for support.
Sessions are 60 minutes, and the fee is $200 per session.
