What it is

Interpersonal therapy focuses on the link between your relationships and your mood. It looks at conflict, role changes, loss and isolation, and how to handle each.

What a session looks like

We pick one or two relationship areas that are causing the most distress, look at how you communicate, and practice new ways of handling them.

Who it can help

Depression, grief, conflict with a partner or family member and major life changes.

About my training

In my work I draw on ideas from Interpersonal Therapy, along with other methods suited to each person.

Counseling that uses this approach

When the same argument keeps coming back, or the two of you have started to feel like roommates, counseling gives you a calmer place to talk and new ways to reconnect. I have helped couples do that for more than 35 years.

When life feels heavy, or you are not sure what to do next, individual counseling gives you room to say what you are feeling and make sense of it. I have worked with individuals for more than 35 years.

Concerns this can help with

Support for the decisions, emotions and changes that come with separation and divorce.

Support for low mood, loss of interest and the weight of feeling stuck.

Support after the death of someone you love and other major losses.

Support for ongoing depression, mood swings and related conditions.
