Start from what is strong in you, not only what is wrong

Starting with what you do well and building from there.

What it is

Strength-based therapy begins with your abilities, resources and past successes, instead of focusing only on what is wrong.

What a session looks like

We name the strengths you already use, and apply them to the problem you are facing. Goals are small and clear and we build on each success.

Who it can help

People who feel discouraged, families who feel they have failed, and anyone who wants to build confidence.

About my training

In my work I draw on ideas from Strength-Based Therapy, along with other methods suited to each person.

Counseling that uses this approach

When life feels heavy, or you are not sure what to do next, individual counseling gives you room to say what you are feeling and make sense of it. I have worked with individuals for more than 35 years.

When conflict, stress or a big change leaves your family feeling pulled apart, counseling gives everyone a calmer place to talk and listen. I have worked with families for more than 35 years.

If your faith is part of who you are, it can be part of your counseling too. I bring the same professional care to every client and welcome faith into the conversation when you want it there.

Concerns this can help with

Support when a major change has you feeling unsettled.

Support for self-doubt, harsh self-criticism and feeling not good enough.

Support for parents of teens and children, and for blended families.

Support for the pressures, changes and relationships women face.
